Schools in Ohio need protection from expensive lawsuits

In The Columbus Dispatch, Buckeye’s Andrew Geisler outlines why liability protection, which passed the General Assembly, is so important for Ohio’s schools, writing, “As Ohio schools begin the unenviable task of returning to class amid a pandemic, and educators agonize over whether, how and when to reopen classrooms, their lawyers continue to warn of potential lawsuits and liability risks even if every reasonable precaution against the virus is taken. The unnecessary threat of pandemic-related litigation just adds insult to injury.”;

The Buckeye Institute: Policies in School Choice Now Act Offer School Choice Options to Millions of Students Nationwide

The Buckeye Institute released, School Choice Now Act: Meeting Students’ Needs In Uncertain Times, which outlines how the School Choice Now Act can provide financial resources to parents to help them afford the best educational setting that fits the specific needs of their children. In the brief, author Greg Lawson writes, “Although not a panacea for the disruptions of COVID-19, the act would create flexible scholarships and offer incentives for more state-led initiatives to help families tailor educational opportunities to fit the specific needs of their students.”
