The Buckeye Institute filed an amicus brief in Kansas v. Biden, with the United States District Court for the District of Kansas, arguing—as it previously did in both Biden v. Nebraska and U.S. Department of Education v. Brown—that the Biden administration’s newest student debt cancellation program exceeds the legal authority of the secretary of education, is arbitrary and capricious, and was adopted in a procedurally improper manner.

Europe shows U.S. the economic pain of net-zero madness

In The Washington Times, The Buckeye Institute highlights how Europe’s experience reveals the economic pain the U.S. will face if it implements the Biden administration’s net-zero policies, writing, “There is little to be learned from the second kick of a mule, as the old saying goes. European countries took the first proverbial kick from net-zero mandates, and they have the economic bruises to show for it. There is no reason for U.S. farmers and consumers to stand behind the same mule.”

The Buckeye Institute Calls on SCOTUS to Protect Citizens from Unconstitutional Forfeiture Laws

The Buckeye Institute filed an amicus brief with the U.S. Supreme Court in Sanchez v. United States opposing unconstitutional forfeiture laws, which create perverse incentives for law enforcement to seize private property when its owner is not convicted of a crime, or in this case, wasn’t charged, or even suspected of a crime. “The result of forfeiture laws is a system where revenue generation—not crime prevention—is the primary driver of law enforcement decisions.”
