The Buckeye Institute Outlines Practical Recommendations for Medicaid Redetermination Process

The Buckeye Institute released a new policy report, Medicaid: Why and How States Must Review Eligibility, that offers recommendations on how states should approach the Medicaid redetermination process that is required now that the federal Covid-19 public health emergency is over. “By adopting this approach, states can conduct efficient eligibility reviews, avoid significant budgetary shortfalls, and ensure that only people eligible for Medicaid receive benefits.”

“The Buckeye Institute: In Wake of Washington’s Failure, States Must Lead on Data Privacy”

The Buckeye Institute released a new policy brief, A Federalism Opportunity in A Congressional Failure: How States Can Fix the Data Privacy Patchwork, urging states—in the wake of Congress’s failure to adopt comprehensive data privacy legislation—to work together to harmonize state-level data privacy rules, which, if left unaddressed could cost businesses and consumers $98 billion to $112 billion annually. “[S]tates can and should take the lead and pass data privacy legislation that minimizes compliance costs while effectively protecting consumer data privacy.”

The Buckeye Institute: Senate Budget Offers a Path to Greater Prosperity for Ohio

In a new policy memo, A Path to Greater Prosperity, The Buckeye Institute offers recommendations on Ohio’s budget as it enters the final stages of deliberation in the Ohio Senate. In the memo, Buckeye notes that the Senate version of Ohio’s budget “includes the boldest school choice plan in state history, pro-growth tax reform, additional guardrails to help prevent government overspending, and occupational licensing reform,” all policies supported by The Buckeye Institute.;

The Buckeye Institute Outlines Path to a Flat Tax

In a new policy memo, How Ohio Can Join the Flat-Tax Revolution, The Buckeye Institute outlines how Ohio can “lower tax rates for everyone” and use revenue triggers “along the way to an across-the-board flat-tax.” In the policy memo, Buckeye experts note that moving Ohio to a 2.75 percent flat tax would “result in a $2.5 billion boost to GDP, thousands of new jobs, and $800 million in increased investment in 2024.”;

In a new policy memo, Put Students First & Expand School Choice, The Buckeye Institute outlined how—by expanding school choice—Ohio lawmakers can help parents tailor learning resources to meet their child’s educational needs. The Buckeye Institute released its now world-famous 2023 Piglet Book, which analyzed Ohio’s proposed biennial budget and identified more than $2.7 billion in savings for Ohio taxpayers. “By implementing pro-growth tax policies, prioritizing necessary spending, closing tax loopholes, ending corporate welfare and government ‘philanthropy,’ and continuing the effort to fund students first, lawmakers can spur economic growth and prosperity for all Ohioans.”
